Retrofitting A Foundation In Preparation for a Custom Addition
Retrofitting this garage slab to support a new addition required close contact with the engineer. Rebar had to be laid underneath the existing slab which required excavation by hand. Next to the house a jackhammer and six foot drill bit were required to achieve the depth required by the engineer to guarantee structural integrity.
We’ve never done a foundation like this, that required so much digging by hand. Metal rods, rebar and concrete join the new foundation to the pre-existing one and additional piers in the back will support the enlarged space.
Retrofitting for an addition is more structurally complex but South Shore Custom Builders has the experience and physical ability to accomplish these types of daunting retrofits.
Let’s get this foundation wrapped and start building.
